React vs Vue: Choosing a Front-end Framework
Written to help you decide, including where the other option is genuinely better.
React or Vue?
Both build component-based interfaces and both are capable of anything the other can do. React has the larger ecosystem and hiring pool, particularly in India. Vue is often considered gentler to learn and has a more integrated official toolset. For most projects, team familiarity and hiring realities should decide.
Side by side
| Factor | React | Vue |
|---|---|---|
| Learning curve | Steeper, more decisions to make | Generally gentler |
| Ecosystem | Largest | Smaller but well curated |
| Hiring pool in India | Very large | Smaller |
| Official tooling | Community-led, many choices | More integrated official libraries |
| Corporate backing | Meta plus a large community | Independent with community and sponsor support |
| Long-term maintenance risk | Low — very widely adopted | Low — stable and mature |
Choose React if…
- Hiring and replacement are a priority
- You need a specific library that exists in React's ecosystem
- Your team already knows it
- The application is large and long-lived
Choose Vue if…
- Your team prefers a gentler learning curve
- You value an integrated official toolset
- The team already knows Vue
- The project is small to medium in scope
Questions people ask about this decision
Both perform comparably for real applications. Bundle size and rendering discipline affect users far more than the framework choice.
React, by a clear margin. If you expect team turnover, that is a practical argument.
For content sites, usually not — plain HTML and a little JavaScript is faster and simpler. Frameworks earn their place when interface state is genuinely complex.
